NAME WALKDEN James 
Service Record 

Private 16692 King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment 2nd Battalion.  

James was born 26 August 1887 at Bolton-Le-Sands, Lancashire.

1911 Census shows that he lived with his wife Mary at 1 Park Terrace, Bolton-le-Sands, Lancashire by the time he had signed up he had moved to 29 Hill St, Carnforth and was a blacksmith striker.  His military pension record hows that he had four children Constance Cottam,  Mary Margaret, Bessie and Constance Walkden.  The 1911 census shows Mary Margaret 2 (23 July 1908, Bolton le Sands) and Bessie 4 months (11 November 1910, Bolton Le Sands).  It also shows that James had been married to Mary for two years. 

By the time of James's death he and Mary had also had Constance (22 December 1912) and James Watson 15 August 1915

His son James Watson Walkden was killed in WW2 and is also remembered on the War Memorial.
