NAME DAWSON Robert

Sergeant 1915045 Royal Engineers (attached to Queen Victoria's Own Madras Sappers and Miners. He lived at 32 Hill Street, Carnforth, with his parents. In 1935 he married Mabel Ellen Law of Hill Top Farm, Over Kennett and moved to 95 Lancaster Road (now demolished) where they had two children Dorothy and Mary. In 1940 he volunteered for service and was evacuated that year from Dunkirk. His wife Mabel died of natural causes in 1940 and is buried at Bolton-Le-Sands, Lancashire
As a widower with young children, it is unusual that he was posted overseas.
