Private 241060 Border Regiment 5th Battalion

Son of Robert Ashworth of Hopewell House, Warton, Carnforth.   Husband of Sarah Jane Braithwaite (formerly Ashworth) of The Row, Oakenclough, Garstang, Preston.

1901 Census shows John aged 9 living at Hopewell House with his parents Robert (49) and Margaret (54) and his siblings Robert (21) William (18), Joseph (11) and his neices and nephews Margaret L Ashworh (4) and Herbert (3) along with his grandfather James Craig (76). 

The 1911 shows that he was a border in Egremont, Cumbria and his profession was wagon examiner.
